I recently did interview rounds at a few companies. I'm an ICT4 at Apple, making ~$350K TC. For the most part, I was either was passed on, or got lowballed into junior levels. Makes me appreciate my current job more... and worry that, if I ever wanted to leave, I may need to take a significant pay cut. Anyone else face these worries? And what have you done about them? Are there many companies that offer this kind of compensation, or am I stuck with the big ~10 or so companies? I am especially worried because I'm considering buying a house ... I dont want to take a mortgage expecting this level of comp, and a few years down the road, be in a pickle.
350K TC is post stock appreciation? What’s the original stock grant? That’s your real worth for Apple.
Yes and no. 2019 W2 should be about $350K, so that's counting stock appreciation from previous years grants. My salary is ~$190K, and RSU are $120K-$150K, so the TC from that perspective is $310K-$340K.
And then there is cash bonus, 401K match, ESPP etc.
350 is close to L5 offers (excluding stock appreciation). Most companies will comfortably offer this comp provided that you make the cut for their L5 loop.
Right, my question is, how many companies offer that much? I know the big ones (FAANG etc) will, but that's a small pool of companies. Are there less giant corps that offer as much? Or am I stuck with the same ~10 companies if I want big bucks?
Most companies can offer that as long as you can persuade them to take you at a higher level. It will take more than leetcode just sayin
Netflix or Facebook? Google might but I've heard they low ball a lot. Amazon too but not sure about 6 YoE

I felt same ... looked around they lowballing me or asking to come at lower level ... finally settling at current job.
6 YOE for 350k TC is easy piece, all well known companies can offer that. I am sure your interviews didn't go well so they downlevelled or rejected you.
Not many with 6yoe entirely at big co (no offense) Best bet is faang and a few successful unicorns - basically the ones that only factor 1337code
Yeah you’re pretty much stuck with “big 10” companies. Uber and Lyft can pay 400k+ for L5 roles and they do have South Bay offices, but you’ll need to meet the bar during the interview. Btw, you are getting downleveled due to interview performance, so I’d look into that. In particular, check your code quality and system design skills.
Your TC.salary plus newly granted RSU, is higher than most ICT4 I knew with 10YOE+ and rival some ICT5 I knew. Congrats! Count your blessings. Very jealous.
