Had a 300k offer last year (180 base + 120 target bonus) in one of their strats teams as a VP (which I obviously rejected because it was less pay for more work hours and less fun culture). I think they lowballed me. Any finance-bros here who can chip in? TC:🌲fiddy

Those bonuses are for front office bankers. Numbers look right for your role
Yeah but how much sleep do you lose?
300k seems about right. Median compensation for VPs in cash equity for 2014 was around 300K. See attached document. Of course this is 2014, and specific to cash equity, YMMV.

Finance VP’s regularly make 400-600k depending on performance (aka bonus)
But when they hire you, do they quote a lower number?
Yeah they usually just give you a base and tell you that bonus is discretionary. Base should be around 200k. Some banks will give a guaranteed bonus for the first year which is usually on the lower side. Edit: just looked through your question again. I missed the numbers you posted. Yeah that looks pretty normal. Bonus for VP’s is easily >100% of your salary if you do well.
