On L1 visa here. Planning to shift to Seattle. Wife still looking for opportunities (masters in environmental science). Planning to rent a 1 bhk. Will buy a mid range Honda. We don't go out for dinner/clubbing much. Anyone with similar life style can help us know how much monthly expenses we are looking at? Edit: I have no research or idea about where to live. I am ok with long commute if the place is calm and has all important stuff nearby. I don't want to go extra mile to save money.
Really depends. Rent can be anywhere between 1.5-2.5k including utilities, food+clothing+gas about 1k on average.
2200 rent, utilities, etc. Another 200 for phone, internet, online subscriptions etc, 500 groceries, 1000 car expenses, rest you can spend on eating out, shopping, day outs etc
2.7k - apartment rent 1k - car lease/parking/insurance/gas 0.5k - water/sewer/trash/electricity/internet/phone 0.5k - groceries 0.5k - eating out/other leisure stuff
3100 Mortgage on a single Family Insurance + Gas + Electeicity + Water + Sewage + Garbage + Tax = 1000 Credit card: 1000 Average 5K
Vague question gets bad and inaccurate responses. Where in Seattle? If you live in white center vs downtown you'll save a lot more money. Are you trying to go as cheap as possible or average?
Replied
You seem to have posted conflicting statements that you're okay with a long commute but don't wanna travel extra miles to save money?
I meant in the figurative way. I don't want to live cheap. Like share appartment with other families.
