Per month. Cars or rideshare. If you bought your car cash, divide the price by 48 for a monthly equivalent.

Also- what kind of car do you have?

If that’s in Seattle, I’d rather daily the bus than the gt3, the roads are krap.

Hah cool. I’m mid-20s and blew my previous nest egg on a failed business. Piled up about $250k since then but still never feel like I’m “okay”. Also as a consultant I don’t have as much stability in tough macro markets.. so that’s my life story and why I don’t have a Tesla 😉

Yeah playing the finance route is smart (if you actually invest the cash). What’s your monthly payment on the M3P?

$645, then insurance is $145 here in Illinois. I pay $90/mo for garage parking but it also has free charging so if I drove more frequently, it wouldn't cost me more. Would have had to pay $90 either way if I had a non electric car.

$645! That’s reasonable. On how much down?

I did 25% down. I think bank required it for me because of the high cost of the car and me not having a history of making car payments(first time financing a vehicle. But I do have a credit score >800 which I think is part of why I think I got a low APR.

$21k car bought with cash 6 years ago. $437/mo by your calculation. It's only depreciated by $11k so I'd put the payment cost at $150 per month. $90/month on gas, $42 on insurance, free parking, very little maintenance. I'd say it's been $300/month all in. Then again I don't commute by car so I only have 50k miles on it.

    Parking: 320$
    Gas: 200$
    Insurance: 160$
    Maintenance amortization: 85$
    All cars paid off.
70 miles a day commute. One large SUV used usually, one older sedan more rarely.
