How much easier to get 2nd job

I want to hear experiences of how you guys found your second job. I turned my LinkedIn status to actively looking and submitted my resume to two companies. Now I'm left with 2 take home assignments, 2 technical coding challenge phone interviews, an on-site, and initial stages of recruiter call. 5 companies including both of the ones I submitted my resume to. Getting that first job took over 200 job applications and maybe 4 on-sites before getting an offer. Is this just how the tech industry works?
