I am in my mid 20s, live in NYC and am single. I spent 70k last year. I was wondering how much people in general spend? I think I spend too much especially since I spend a considerable amount of time in the gym (around 10 hours per week). My approximate breakdown is:
House - 35k (includes rent, utilities)
Alcohol - 5k
Eating out - 10k
Travelling - 10k (I mostly backpack and spend like 2 weeks exploring the region)
Gifts - 6k
Charity - 4k

Rent is ~18k (1.5k a month). In addition to that, I spend up to 1k on everything else.
I use the company gym, and eat at the free cafeteria at FB (only buy groceries on the weekends). I have a car that I use on the weekends, but I live within walking distance to the office, so I don’t drive that much.
Besides occasional help the family with some expenses, I basically invest the rest.
