Just heard from my manager that the department chief doesn’t like the idea of giving me a raise for annual review. I had a market adjustment on my TC at mid year review because I was “severely underpaid” quote from HR (85k). People joined after me doing the same work get 20+% than me. I’m getting solid performance done, my manager knows it but chief doesn’t because office politics.

The market adjustment was done by my manager and HRBP pressuring the chief. I’m thinking to talk to HRBP again and asking for 20%, how does it sound? I have done some interviews 120k seems where the ranges are.

My TC is at the lower end of the same ranking in my company. My manager is one level up than me and some ppl (compared to same nature departments) at my level is making 10% more than my manager.

Sorry but if you just got a market rate adjustment from 85 to 100k 6 months ago then you're not going to get another 20% bump now.

If you want more money then get an offer and leave.

I had a chat with HR and I was told there’s no negotiation whatsoever, company will decide everything, I can only accept the outcome or quit.
