How should one consider TC when asking for a raise at a startup?
I am looking to negotiate a raise at a startup where we only get paid with a base salary and options. I have a solid amount of equity via options and we are on track for a Series C fundraise, but I want to negotiate my new TC based on the market.
My base is slightly higher than the average base salary in my area (considering YoE and location). However I don't get bonuses and I only have options.
My manager mentioned I should consider my options when determining my TC, but I wasn't sure if that's a fair comparison if I can't easily convert options to cash.
I consistently received great performance reviews and recruiters at other companies have suggested much higher base salaries when trying to get me in for the full interview process.
Also if anyone has links for good market TC numbers, please share! I've only looked at levels.fyi recently
TC: 160k base vs 280k (with options)

Some start ups offer more in options, some offer less. If the TC is the same, it doesn’t make the offer better or worse, it’s just up to preference.
If you care about base/more cash I suggest you join a FAANG or quant firm.
