I have 40k in cash (new grad), thinking of doing: 10k in checking, 20k in Ally Savings, 10k in Betterment. Good strategy? Too conservative? TC: >170k
Invest it in growing yourself and your character and you’ll easily make 40k later on in life.
Buy 2x or 3x leveraged s&p etf's.
Can you provide more details?
There are a few different etf's that use margin to have 2x or 3x daily exposure to different index's like the s&p 500. Essentially when it goes up you gain 2 to 3 times the normal amount. When the index is down you lose 2 to 3 times the amount.

You should do 18k facebook stock, 20k savings, and 2k checking.
Why fb?
It's the cheapest faang stock right now.
$1000 in checking. 6 months' expenses in a high yield money market account. Put the rest in various low cost index funds.
1k is so low tho, is that enough?
I line my bills up so they are right after my pay check. Once those clear, I move everything above $1000 to savings or investments. I pay for everything on a credit card so no need to hold a ton of cash in checking.

Too conservative for your age, all stock
I will be aggressive with portfolio, I just want to have enough emergency cash on hand.
Are you following something like this first? https://i.imgur.com/CcEVQAV.jpg Checking and savings would be considered your emergency fund.
Here's a better link that makes that chart legible. https://i.imgur.com/CcEVQAV_d.jpg?maxwidth=1440&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium
Nice thanks stgm64! If you want to search yourself or on some other device I always search for “reddit personal finance flowchart”. I should have included that before pasting a lame link.
