How to asked to get layoff and ask for severance package at Apple?

Oct 31, 2019 20 Comments

I want to spend a few months studying for interviews. My current job is unbearable, bad reviews, manager doesn't know any tech, my pay is way below market . Should I quit or somehow get layoff and ask for a severance package? What is a better choice here?

Can’t you take unpaid leave and prepare? Why get fired? It is a small world and you never know what will happen later in your career.

He was talking about laid off not fired. Both are different things

What if apple mention that employee was laid off for bad performance. Will it not affect op while interviewing at other companies?

What you mean by initiating lay-off? I thought that the company can break the offer or employment contract any time like you . Can you explain. Thanks

Usually if they let you go, they give you a severance package. So you get benefits + pay for a few months.

LOL! How could someone ask to "get layoff"? I mean, if it was that easy, wouldn't anyone who quits rather ask to get layoff instead so they get a severance?
As far as I know, that's the company's choice. You can't ask for that. But you can just quit.
