Hi all, I am software engineer at DBS. I wanted to become a product manager. What steps should I take to mould my career towards the goal mentioned? Companies should I target and any courses and studies should I pursue? #productmanager #productmanagement
I'm a fan of learning on the job. This worked for me. Get on a team that doesn't silo you off from product management and take the initiative. Pair that with books on product management and you'll get on a good track and get further faster than getting am MBA. "Nail it then scale it" and "lean product playbook" are good starter books.

For an swe there are three main paths: transition into PM in your compay; get a top MBA; start a company.
There so many paths to PM. MBA and starting your own company are very far down the list. As a swe, working on a cross-functional team is a good way. As a swe you can start doing requirements gathering, writing user stories, participating in design sprints, talking to users, understanding customer problems, running experiments, etc. This is how my team works. The best path is taking the initiative and getting around blockers in the most efficient way possible.
