How to compete as an upcoming Bootcamp grad?

Attending bootcamp part-time and will graduate the end of August. What can I do to prepare/ compete with others looking for entry-level SWE positions? Not pushing for FANG yet. Mostly looking for Tier 2 or 3 companies. No college degree. #netflix #google #apple #amazon #facebook

Have some good projects and don’t be an a-hole

I went from bootcamp to Amazon SDE. Make sure you have really good projects (ideally in a team), which you can talk about extensively during interviews. These will be closer to real world experience than most college grads have. Leetcode and CTCI of course. Whiteboarding interviews can be great for a bootcamp grad since in that moment not having a CS degree doesn’t matter, all that matters if you can solve the question. Practice speaking in front of the board. Actually prepare for behavioral interviews. Need to have good examples prepared because you have less to choose from. Also don’t be afraid to use non-SWE examples for a few behavioral answers if you have strong ones. Good luck!

Did the bootcamp cost money? Did you have to give some of your Amazon TC to the bootcamp?
