I just recently had first round interview with Apple. The interviewer looked irritated to me. I am not sure what was the reason, but I felt that he just wanted to do the formality of taking the interview. Whenever I asked him clarification regarding the questions, he showed frustration that why am I even asking that question. He literally showed anger when I tried to approach the problem in generic way. I may not be smart enough for him, but showing such behavior made sad. I am thinking of telling recruiter about it.
Idiotas like him are unfortunately pretty common
Apple interviewers are the cockiest ones out there. Had an onsite recently, and did really well on the first two rounds, till I ran into absolutely pathetic interviewers in the last two rounds. In the second to last round, interviewer claimed that a certain growth metric could not be predicted using an RNN, when in fact it can (I even worked on this during an internship) In the last interview, the interviewer came in, asked me some design questions, and was on the phone from the first minute itself. Sucks to have this given that I worked so hard for the interview
Can't. Tell your recruiter and maybe it'll get you a re-go with someone who doesn't suck
Did you bring any humor into it? Generally it can help ease tension and make someone feel less angry
Or get them more worked up?
I have noticed that companies with team specific interviews (Apple, Netflix, etc) have categorically worse interviewers as compared to Google or LinkedIn. I feel this boils to the training that companies like Google give to their interviewers. I have interviewed couple of times with Apple and they were the worst for sure. I honestly lost a lot of respect after talking to their interviewers.
In one of my interviews, I wasn't able to answer some framework related questions. Based on that the interviewer asked me if I really wanted to be an swe 😁. This was after I had done 2 LCs already in the same round. (This wasn't apple)
+1 I have had multiple rude interviewers at Apple. They getting irritated for asking a clarifying question, which is otherwise encouraged at other companies. My friends had similar experience there too. In other FANGs, U get bad "apple" once in a while, but at Apple, it seems more like a rule rather than exception
I wouldn't take it personally, I've had that several times with different fangs, I think part of it is because they're supposed to have a poker face and some people's poker face might come off irritated
This!!! Totally agree!!! I have a friend who tends to frown when he’s thinking and it appears as though he’s really annoyed or condescending.
Wow I had an on-site interview and one of the engineers was extremely cocky and rude. Also got irritated when I asked for clarification on the question hah maybe it was the same team? 😂
Probably just found out his wife was banging some bro at the gym I would leave some bad feedback to the recruiter and hope it gets some visibility
What visibility? You want people to know his wife is getting banged? Is op interviewing at pornhub?
