I got an offer from Microsoft in early November. I did not have competing offers then and had to reply fast. So I accepted a low offer ( 125k base + 100k stocks over 4 years L60). But now, I got a much better offer from Amazon (150k base + 120k stocks over 4 yrs SDE 2). Microsoft has already filed for my H1B transfer. What should I say to decline from joining and not get blacklisted by Microsoft? Yoe: 2.5 TC: 125k
Just send an email that you will not be joining . It isn’t a big deal , not idea though. Company like Microsoft will never blacklist you
They will blacklist!

Be apologetic and not rude, they will be upset but not too much and understanding

What was the level offered at MS?
L60 at MS and SDE2 at Amazon
Yep definitely reneg then. If you accepted the offer early November how is your visa transfer still pending?
Amazon is a long hour type company, no? The TC difference is negligible. I would stay at MSFT
Make sure you value the benefits (just 401k and StayFit and HSA is more than 12K), vacation of 3 weeks, merit increase, bonus, etc. Ultimately, think about the work you will be doing.
TC per hour worked is way less than msft
isn't it high at msft?
Agreed with most folks here. Why change because of such small difference. Plus with msft you will live on the east side. That way you will save commute time and save on rent as well.
