New joiner here, no idea how management in Zillow works and how the evaluation process is done. What is a tech manager supposed to work on? Came from a consulting firm where management is done transparently and evaluation metrics is articulated clearly. Searched internal webs and couldnt find any form or statement. Can someone please provide some help?

Z doesnât provide job descriptions or result expectations to employees. This is done so leadership can change your job expectations on a whim, with or without telling you, as the business changes (also so they can fire, discriminate and retaliate).

Second. Quarter goals sets one month after the quarter starts, and change one a whim when manager sees project that he/sure cares about not getting done. Attempting to update goals to reflect change of focus would get you reprimanded.
It depends on who the cast of characters is. I did just that and it was a career limiting move. You have to be careful and know the players involved.
