My wife is looking to get back into the industry after multiple year sabbatical. It's been hard since she doesn't get any calls after uploading the resume to 10s of companies, even though she has 7 years of experience and multiple recent certifications from coursera and general assembly. I was wondering if there are folks here willing to help out. Just getting an interview would be a great help, or a resume review will also be appreciated. Profile: QA manual / automation testing. Experience: TCS 7 years Location: greater seattle area I'll be happy to share resume over pm. #qa #jobhunt #womenintech
Like Paypal said, re-entry programs are designed to help people restart their careers. IBM has one. https://www.ibm.com/employment/techreentry/ Best of luck to her.
Check out Microsoft LEAP apprentice program.
OP, Many companies around, I know, have these Return-to-Work Program, during which they help / recruit candidates, with a few years break in between, whatever may be the reason. VMware, Intuit, to name a few. Feel free to DM me, I can get her in touch with recruiters, if interested.
Just my observation of last 3 years. QA as a profession is dying, especially manual. With the devOps culture wider adoption everybody is expected to be sw engineer, PM or manager. There are of course still companies that have QA teams but their numbers are dwindling.
That's true. Most of the way jobs are also outsourced, so not many opportunities in the hubs. That's why she decided to learn python. To at least have some programming experience. But to be a skilled programmer is a huge commitment. She may have to do that regardless though. :(
Many companies like Facebook , Cisco , paypal etc have “back to work” programs. Please google for more info ;)
