To all those who came to US on a Visa, in the beginning that you don't have any credits built at credit bureaus in the US.

How can you get normal bank rates when getting mortgage, car lease etc without having US credit rating just yet?

  • Some banks (such as HSBC, and RBC if you are from Canada) can work with you international credit profile.

Having no credit is better than having bad credit. They will start you off at an ok-ish level and you will quickly build up your score.

As long as you pay your bills on time and use the credit card monthly, you can build a credit history in about a year (give it take a few months).

ask each bank for details, feel free to update here.

also get a postpaid cell bill, it’s credit and will increase score. set up autopay.

or just get mortgage now at higher rate and refinance when score is better

Lol wut. What makes you say US banks don't know what they're talking about? US banks are among the most well-capitalized banks in the world, and usually have more assets under management than their foreign competitors.

“You don’t have a credit history in this country, therefore we recognize it as if you have no credit history at all”
The majority of the banks nationwide :)

Also, what does the average Joe care about banks’ assets under management? They still give 0.1% interest, while making the positive gains on the stock exchange with that same people’s money.
