Title.

Friend is a CISSP and can coach me up on lots of relevant tech, but I can't put "friend is CISSP" on my resume.

Brushing up my old full stack skills, but been doing C++ on Linux for a while now.

What's it take to get a foot in the door? Open source work? Relevant portfolio projects? Leetcode practice? Friends inside?

I'd say great TC, but then it'd just be bait for all the FAANG elitists to come in with "nuh uh I make twice that."

I don’t know of teams within Okta that use C++. There are teams that use Go and Rust however

I do, but it is definitely very specialized positions. RUST or GoLang would be easier

You need to learn either Java or Rust or JavaScript to work at Okta Engineering

Thanks! Exactly what I needed to know. Gotta get out of C++ before I get stuck working for peanuts on legacy systems like a COBOL dev.

C++ isn’t going anywhere soon for performance systems, which Okta definitely isn’t.

Thanks! Awesome to get so many relies from Okta folks. Already done some Java (oop and distributed courses were in Java), so perhaps it's just time to dive in and get good at it.
