Aged 35 now, have long experience in analytics/data science in India and USA (2 YRS). Mechanical engineer from a top university in India. Masters in Data Science from US. Currently on H1B. From my experience with SAS, SQL, Python and R coding during Masters assignments, and as part of real data science projects in my current role, I think I have a natural talent for coding and complex problem solving. I can code continuously for 10 hrs without feeling tired. Although I neither have a formal training in SWE nor do I have a direct exposure to it. Although I sometimes solve leet code problems as a hobby. Please suggest what is the most feasible path for me to get into a coding job, if not SWE, at least coding heavy data scientist roles? It's my dream to work for a top tech company. Is it too late? Am I being impractical? I have a lot of sleepless nights thinking about it.Please suggest! TC : 140k NW : 200K
I got a reject from an on-site interview at Amazon 2 years back. I don't get any interviews since then.
What’s your day to day work ?
My day to day job is a mix of analytics using SAS/SQL/Snowflakes and machine learning modeing projects based on portion/R for a marketing campaign personalization team. I am interested in moving into a core machine learning/software profile where coding is my primary job.
Shouldn’t be an issue -just leetcode
