Co-worker at same grade level as mine, signs in to work late and signs off early. Doesn’t initiate responding to emails both of us are on, and always waits for me to respond. Doesn’t update the various project management trackers we have to capture accurate information - which leads me keep asking them for info which I need for my duties instead of just checking the trackers.

They need to be reminded a dozen times (I’m not even kidding) for simple tasks. Additionally, even if they finish a task its full of errors and lacks due diligence and then I have to clean up the mess.

We are training a new person for a lot of manual tasks and they don’t even participate in their share of training and the new person keeps asking me the questions.

It’s getting on my nerves. I brought up the updating tracker issue to my manager. But everything else is so difficult to bring up and manage. I can’t just stop doing it because then I feel guilty of not doing my job, but it annoys me that they dont do their f**king share of work!

Sorry I didn’t mean to ask exact location but MCoL sounds good. To answer your question PIP is coming for your co worker as things are definitely noticed or they might just ship soon and prepping for it

If you want to dig in (fair enough, I probably would), make your value clear and known (your successes are visible). You could share in 1:1 with your manager your frustrations, even avoid naming names if you want to seem like a team player. Your manager will know who you're talking about.

I have been in this situation before and the ultimate solution to the unpippable colleague was that he was transferred to another team in the org.

Have you spoken to this person about it in a calm and professional manner? Sometimes that’s all it takes.

I have. I have sent multiple reminders over the last 6-7 months for them to update stuff!

Reminders aren’t the same thing as having a chat with them to ask them what’s going on. This may be better coming from your manager but sometimes having a discussion with your peer can be useful and ultimately make working with them better in the long term. YMMV

If you feel comfortable talking with them, give them direct feedback, but you need to know their personality to know if this will work out well for you or not.

If it is a performance situation, your manager should handle this.

Lastly, don't equate hours worked as work done. I've worked with people who start later and finish earlier and get just as much done as I do.

I wouldn’t equate hrs worked to actual work if they actually did some work. I’m bringing up hours because they work way too short hours and leave everything pending for weeks. Even our stakeholders keep reminding them to send updates.

It sounds like you haven't talked to them that you're unhappy with the way they're managing thing - just that you're reminding them to do things. Try "Your tasks on the project tracker need to be updated each week and I'm frustrated having to remind you. Please set a reminder on your calendar"
