I’m not settling into my current role like anticipated. I’ve been told that I’m doing a good job but a lot of the things that were promised aren’t being delivered on and just don’t like the product. How can I switch without being judge as a job hopper?
There’s nothing wrong with leaving quickly if it’s not a good fit, just as long as it’s not a pattern. The hard part is making a compelling narrative as to why you’re leaving early. Try not to he negative, but that’s much harder since “time for new challenges!” doesn’t really work when it’s only a few months. I’m in the same boat as you so good luck getting something better!
Yep! I’m surely not looking to be negative. I’m looking to be with my next company for a good amount of time and I thought this would’ve been it. Thanks for sharing all the best to you as well.
Early in your career won't be as much of a problem to have a few hops IMO. People move to figure out interest/areas they want to specialize, salary increases, or because they are learning. "The skillset required was not taking my career in the right direction" can be an okay argument (e.g. IoT Developer walks in and finds out they will have him working on legacy .NET console applications for the next 3 years until cloud infrastructure is in place).
You will be judged as a job hopper only if you hop frequently
This would be my first jump after months, my last was a year and a half
A year and a half is considered short...
