How to maximize TC? Google L5 vs Facebook E5 vs Pinterest L5 vs Snap vs Lyft

Based in SF. Offers in hand. Haven’t discussed numbers with any of them yet. What’s the best way to maximize TC?

Ace the interviews and get offers for all of them.

Offers in hand

Let the bidding wars begin! Congrats

Yoe? Will watch out for numbers here. I expect snap to pay highest but do you want to move to LA? Lyft should be second highest (not sure about Pinterest). Facebook next and then Google

Snap has a MV option too. 3 yoe + phd

Negotiate. Similar to bidding war

Is “bidding wars” a reference to an article?

Oracle cx.mp Feb 20, 2020

No. You tell one company what other company is offering and use that to get more money. Then use that to renogitaite with first company

Did Facebook and/or google given you a written offer letter or is it simply verbal ?

Cruise Automation roUn85 OP Feb 20, 2020

As in the numbers? Haven’t discussed numbers yet so neither verbal nor written

Dell LUHV04 Feb 20, 2020

Got it Yeah , for negotiation and competing offer purpose , you will have to discuss numbers eventually ( may not be right away )

Congrats! I’d probably go G/F for low risk, good TC or Snap/Lyft for higher risk but higher potential TC. Did you study for the interviews?

Dell LUHV04 Feb 20, 2020

You categorize google and Facebook both as low risk given facebooks PSC culture ?

Sure, choose the right team as others have mentioned and it’s not too bad wlb.

Wait until you receive all numbers. Then respond to each recruiter letting them know you have multiple competing offers in range x-y and you prefer to close the decision at earliest asking them to present you the best stretch offer they can get. If you appear to be transparent, a wise recuiter will value that.

Besides numbers also pick teams within the companies where you would enjoy work

Cruise Automation roUn85 OP Feb 20, 2020

I think I’ve already made my decision as to which company/team to join. It’s a matter of maximizing TC now

Mind sharing who?

The general strategy is to bid war, assuming 3 rounds to maximize. With the one you're interested in, convey a stretch number that you will absolutely say yes to and make sure that number is high enough. Then if and when they meet it, sign the offer letter.
