How to negotiate an offer with Google when recruiter come up with initial numbers?

Currently, in process of interviewing at google as Customer Engineer!

Heard people get upto 30% hike. Can you layout some steps of negotiation as a reference for the community as well!

Reference can be widely accepted but shouldn’t stick to Google.

Current- 200k TC cash

Edit:

How would you layout the conversation in steps and keep negotiating until they just don’t want to move forward (which is another poll when do we know that should be the end of negotiation)

    1. Never reveal your present salary/TC
    2. Always have expectations on what you want be set ergo do your research and have a number in mind
    3. If asked let them know your expectations and give your rationale
    4. Never say yes to the first offer even if it exceeded your expectation. Always say thank you for the offer and that you need time to think it over.
    5. Always negotiate over phone rather than email. Shows confidence.
    6. Be willing to walk away. If you show desperation they know you have the upper hand.
    7. Don’t be too greedy.
    8. Good luck!!

Thanks for providing this information. Can you provide your personal/hypothetical example, what happen when you got an offer.. how much they bump up and key points of your conversation as reference. That might help understand how things get related. Glad to have your input!

I am happy to provide input but numbers and negotiations vary from level to level. So how much they can bump also depends on levels. For eg they gave me a sign on for Xx and I asked them to add 3 times of Xx more to it and they agreed.

Yeah but would you layout the conversation in steps and keep negotiating until they just don’t want to move forward (which is another poll when do we know that should be the end of negotiation)

Negotiate once and give a good reason (I have competing offer from company X and they have this team I really want to work on, or this benefit/office I really like).
