Interviewing in a few weeks for an EM position at FB. Been a manager for 2.5 years at current company(6 years total), hoping to get leveled as M1. What should I expect for interview? They said there's some coding rounds, but they understand if haven't written code day to day recently. Also design, culture, management rounds. Looking for some more detail on what exactly they'll entail. Thanks. (and yes, if I get offer I'll post TC ☺)
More like TC or GTFO.
Coding, system design and behavioral leadership questions is what you should expexct. Good luck.
Yes that's what the recruiter said. This is my first interview for a management position, so wasn't sure what to expect for the leadership interviews
Just to prepare you, it is going to be an uphill battle. We usually don’t hire managers with less than 5y of management experience. The recruiter must be advocating for you, which is a good thing, but you are going to need to interview very strongly on your manager interviews. Don’t be disheartened if you get an IC offer. We have really great manager development options, and do a lot of IC to M conversations. Still a great route to go to ramp up into it.
@asdf, what's in the manager interviews. Do you ask anything else apart from coding, system design, and behavioral?
Plus one to this. We don’t usually hire M0 and getting an M1 offer on 2.5 yoe is unlikely. I got an M1 offer after having managed over 100 people in my previous job more than 7 years
Any samples on coding or design portion to get an idea?
