After being given an offer, recruiter says she couldn't negotiate for me unless I send in some written proof of salary or competing offer. What is the expectation here? How should I respond? p.s. My gut feeling tells me I should not be sending full offer letters from other companies, or W2 statements.
You might want to show the offer in person but not allow them to take a copy
Don’t show the telephone number and contact person info
Just tell them you dont feel comfortable with that. The recruiter is trying to see the numbers on the other side.
You could just blackout any company info on the offer, or most stuff other than the needed bits. Keeps it professional
I've shown offer letters to Google and Facebook recruiters before.
Send them screenshot of some pages of offer letter where the numbers are mentioned
Has anyone sent recruiter emails with quoted compensation info instead of official offers?
Your offer is a confidential information between you and your potential employer - just say that, but you can give them a number you will be willing to accept, or walk away.
This ^ if they still insist tell them the other companies are asking for proof also so you would need to send their offer around. If they call your bluff though be prepared to execute or walk away 😬
