I'm starting fulltime as a software engineer at Facebook, Menlo Park out of college this summer (after interning there). During negotiations I ranked NYC as my top office choice and straight up said I would accept immediately if I got NYC office and would probably reject if they couldn't do that. My intern ranking was exceeds expectations (not greatly exceeds). Unfortunately they couldn't offer me a position in New York. I didn't get any other offers (companies stopped recruiting due to COVID + didn't interview too many places since I had a good offer already, & only want similar tier companu/TC) so I accepted my offer. I dislike the Bay Area (went to college there), love New York and my girlfriend who is also graduating is going to be in New York. I reached out to my recruiter and they confirmed they still cannot do NYC office. What do I do? How fast would I be able to transfer within Facebook? TC: 170k + signing, YOE: 0

You can change teams after a year. And also during your bootcamp, try to find a team in NYC.
Super easy after a year. Easier once you get to E4 too
What about E6? I'm joining london as E6 but want to transfer to Zürich after one year. Will that be doable?
Interview at Google and get NYC offer
Google shut down new grad swe recruiting during covid, but they are reopening it in the near future and I will. However, last I spoke to them they only had positions open in Mountain View.
I'm interviewing for google now and said I wanted NYC but I was worried that they didn't have HC. Do you have any knowledge on that?
Get a new gf
Tell them you've a girlfriend in nyc and you just find out that fb has a office in nyc. They will move you to nyc.
From what I know it’s around a year before being able to transfer.
