How would you invest ~$40k? It's my entire savings over the years (yes I'm poor).
Invest in a low-risk way, only thing I can think of is GOOGL stock.

Transfer half your funds (20k) to Vanguard. Hold the funds and delay buying vtsax until the market is red (you should be fine to buy at market if you're in it for the long run)
DCA - Daily Cost Averaging
For the rest of 20k, you should be able to setup vanguard to auto invest a fixed amount every week irrespective of hoe the market is doing. So if you invest 400 every week. The remaining 20k will be invested in a time span of ~ 1yr. You can reduce/increase the weekly investment as per your comfort.
I add $400 every week on a Wednesday to vanguard. Whenever the market is red, I push a little extra cash.
