Compensation matters. So do the perks. But what else would you consider while segmenting companies in the Bay? How do you define a hot or a high-tiered company? Also, what is your take on current tiers? My thoughts: Tier 1: FAANG, MS (& LI), Uber Tier 2: Oracle, Workday, SFDC, eBay, PayPal, typical decent paying public tech companies Tier 3: Other smaller companies Tier 4: Agencies
one correction: Tier 5: Uber
Tier 3: Juniper, Cisco. Intel
Juniper sits firmly on tier 10, next to Tata and Infosys.
Tier 0: Be your own boss Tier 1: Google, Facebook, Netflix Tier 2: Apple, Airbnb, Lyft, Uber, Square, Slack, Dropbox, LinkedIn, Nvidia Tier 3: Microsoft, Amazon, Yelp, Pinterest, Twitter, Salesforce, Zillow, Snapchat, Reddit, Spotify, Twitch Tier 4: Cisco, Oracle, Yahoo/Verizon, SAP, Intel, Adobe, IBM, Intuit, eBay, PayPal, Juniper Tier 5: Everything else
I really think Google and Facebook have fallen from grace....FANG needs an update.
Says the guy at Intel ok
I'm just saying...there are no hardware companies in fang acronym. N is for Netflix. Nvidia is better than Facebook or Google...way better growth in the last few years.
LinkedIn is tier1
Let’s define this first: compensation, reputation, impact, technically interesting, potential are the criteria. In that order of importance. Tier 1: Google, Facebook, Jane Street, Wall Street financial systems companies that I don’t know enough about solely for compensation, impact and technically interesting. Tier 2: Amazon, Uber, Netflix, Airbnb Tier 3: Microsoft, Twitter, Apple, Square, LinkedIn, Slack, Lyft, Pinterest Tier 4: Other known tech companies — Adobe, Salesforce, Yadayada
Very few wall street companies actually really value devs / tech apart from Jane, two sigma and perhaps some top quant hedge funds and some HFT. Unless you’re talking about quants/traders. Those guys are the top guns in financial firms.
Which tier would you think Walmart e-commerce fall under?
Tier is just inverse size. Some dude: noooo my big company is higher tier. Me: dude stfu u suck
What tier are we?
