How’s Goldman Sacs to work for?

How is it like working as an Analyst for GS? I got an interview call for an Analyst position in the Internal Audit team(NYC). I know GS ain’t FAANG but as a new grad with no job in hand and limited time to find a job, I wouldn’t mind GS at all. At least for a year till I get some stability. Also, what I noticed on Blind is, if you’re in any other company other than FAANG, you’re going to be laughed at.

You're gonna get something like 90k all in. Something to chew on.

*laughs in FAANG* Jk man, GS has a solid reputation and you have the added benefit (or curse maybe for some) living in bustling NYC. A buddy of mine works there and likes it although you will be working with a ton of legacy and crappy code written in Slang). Also GS is not a tech company so you will play a second fiddle to the suave bankers and there will be less revolutionary work and more maintain and keeping the sites and apps running (unless you are in quant side then it’s a different story) All in all, I think it’s a solid first job. Live the NYC life, see how they live it up on Walls street and then you can definitely transition to FAANG

My grad school was in NYC man, I’ve lived that life (not working obviously) and my family’s from the Bay Area. I would choose the Bay Area any day of the week. But yeah, I guess you’re right. It’s a solid first job. I’ve heard about the crappy codes, slang and stuff but that’s alright at this time. I might move soon anyway. Thanks!

Think new NAPAs get 135k, and that's great whichever part of country you're in, especially for your first job. And yes, GS still has a solid name. Whether it's good / bad / worse, you can take your pick. Edit to add: be at a company based on what you need, not because others laugh at you. Some learn this sooner, while some will take forever to learn this. YMMV for every scenario so take everyone's advise or guidance with a bowl of salt.

GS is not that bad to work for. Friend is an SDE there. They have a lot of legacy code and outdated processes but you will have a lot of WLB that you can use to leetcode and become a FAANg drone of you wanted l.

Disagree. GS Tech does not have a lot of WLB, also if you know of teams that do, Dm me :P
