I have an offer with a team in Wavefront. First FE hire so there aren't any existing frontends to gauge yet, except that I'm not required to use Slang (heard it's backend language from hell).

Coming from UI background (React/Vue), I'm curious how is the FE stack over there - do you use npm or private package management? Which Linux environment? Where and how do you deploy web apps? That sort of things.

Please PM if you don't feel confident sharing in the open. Thanks in advance!

Offer TC: 250k + 30% cash bonus.

  • The team has a component suite that accommodates either Angular or React. NPM on RHEL or Windows. You can see it here https://design.gs.com/components

Deploy probably varies by team, the more external-facing, the more gates there are involved obviously.

    Feel free to PM

I left GS a number of years ago from burnout and my team was treated like shit by the business. As with anything it depends on the team/LOB. That being said they have a solid core engineering org and were still building up the FE stack when I left so I’m sure it’s in a good place by now. Also slang is great… it’s just old. A lot of their legacy in house tech was ahead of its time and now they are adopting FOSS albeit with a shiny internal GS wrapper. Best of luck!
