I'm talking to a recruiter at pure storage for sw eng position. I hear good things from my friends but also few concerns from online forums. Hows the health of the company? Hows the culture? What's the best thing about working there? Hows the comp? Any info you can share is helpful.
I had an offer from there .Comp is exceedingly good. They beat out most big companies. Work wise I've not heard any bad complaints apart from it being hectic. And he recently their stock surged on good earnings. Free lunch.
Level and TC of the offer?
Health is excellent but you gotta understand enterprise storage has a ceiling unlike consumer. Culture is fantastic so far, but company is slowly moving to a large enterprise. Comp is very good. Free food. More opportunities for personal growth imo. WLB is really good
What’s the approximate salary for an engineering manager at pure storage?
What JH67DF said. Fantastic place to work so far, with very good comp.
Don't know about company but they ask lot of multithreading in interviews. Also I don't think they do leetcode style interview
Prepare the question on drawing a circle if you go ahead in interview 😜
Have you looked at PSTG’s earnings? They blew it out.
Great place to work. Comp is great. WLB is also great. People around you are extremely smart. Have got just about 2.5K employees so things are agile and fast paced. People generally seem happy here and the stock hopefully is just getting started. One thing for sure, the interview was difficult. I interviewed at AWS and Netflix(got offer from AWS), this was tougher. Yes I was asked to draw a circle but the scenarios thrown during the process is what set it apart.
You work in HR there?
Good one. I'll WFH and laugh about that today.
When the pure guys say WLB is great, I highly doubt their standard. My interview there was supposedly 10am so I arrived in the office about 9:40am. THERE WAS ALREADY A TEAM STANDUP GOING ON! That was a shock to me. That means everyone in that team needs to arrive by 9:30am! And interviewer told me their hours were about 9-6. That was your good WLB? Here at Uber we call 11-5 a good WLB.
Pre 10AM stand ups are a nonstarter for me. Fuck that.
Team members typically weigh in on the time for standup. If all members of a team do come to office early what's the harm in having standup? That's not the norm though. Most are anywhere from 10 to 11.30
So what's the typical hours of a work day for you and your team?
Few of my team members come after 10:30 and leave after 7 to avoid traffic. Some come at 9 and leave by 5. Standup time is decided based on team members availability.
Some teams have good WLB, but I felt like the culture encourages working long hours. I do see individuals try to improve things where they can though. Comp and company prospects are good as mentioned, it's probably at least worth applying and judging if it's for you.

If you vote for Biden this year, don't complain about layoffs
I know folks who left MS and AMZN for pure storage so I guess comp must be on par.
Most people did that for the stock and not pay
