Company effort to combat burnout, and actually a recent mandatory week off.
Really highly dependent on the team and discipline, though.
Overall wlb is amazing, there's hardly ever been periods of extra work and even then it's hyper localized to specific teams, not broad swaths of the company
I'm leaving due to having spent more than 4 years at Riot (so looking for a change) and being offered a higher TC elsewhere.
Obligatory stats: Software Engineer, 10+ YOE, 320k TC (at Riot in LA)
It's more complicated than this due to unvested bonus money from old bonus schemes but this is the ongoing future comp for me.
I agree with what was said above: people who think WLB at Riot is bad either never had another job or came from one where they worked 20 hours (or were super unlucky in terms of team at Riot). Riot pegs itself more to tech than to the games industry.
Culture is more of a mixed bag. Everything depends on your team and manager.
Low TC relative to tech is the only systemic thing to complain about.
