Asking for my wife. I know you guys are busy, so I will make it quick. Current job: DS at a local company Tc: 166k Great WLB Boss is nice and considerate Offer in negotiation: DS at Reddit Tc: 160k + $40k per year RSU Potential IPO Wfh forever Decent benefit Should I stay or switch? Yoe: 3
Even though I don't like the fact that Reddit is becoming more mainstream (call me a gatekeeper, but they're showing decent signs of making aggressive changes, just to show more ads) -- I'd say an IPO is imminent and perma WFH is awesome. Go for it
What’s the value of the RSU? Or is that $40k worth of stock?
That’s 100% $40k worth of stock.
Over 4 years? Isn't that like 1000 RSU's?
YOE?
Is it true that Reddit also doesn't adjust for cost of living depending on location? If so then being able to live anywhere with that TC could be a huge upside. Many companies (e.g. Yelp), even if mostly remote/wfh, will make large downward adjustments if not in Bay Area/Seattle. Something to consider...
That’s true anywhere in the US.
US only, I’m in Canada and the recruiter mentioned they have a different base salary band here. Sounds like about 80-85% of US numbers for salary specifically. Stocks are still in USD.
Data Science org has a great WLB.
Hey op What level is your wife’s offer at? What is the rsu share price? Or what valuation is it based on?
Is DS data science? And if so why is the tc so low for either? What’s the YOE?
TC doesn't look too low for DS imo, but yes depends on yoe. 3-5 yoe data scientist at faang would be around $220-260k according to levels.fyi (not including Netflix of course)
