Hey people,
Lately, I'm seeing a lot of posts on Blind about moving out from India to USA, Europe, etc via direct hiring, internal transfer, and higher studies.
Any idea why the sudden spike in such posts ?

All these are only for below poverty line.
Guys who pay tax are told you can earn enough to pay tax then can earn for private Healthcare and other benefits too.
People doing business like hotels, restaurants, stores , lawyers, doctors who have own offices, clinics do not pay tax. (Mostly accept only cash or don't show any profit)
Crime rate is highest , No safety. Harassment by govt officials, bribe culture. Justice system in this place is a joke.
Castesim, regional bias, favouritism to the max even in private sector. Work culture is bad.
Food adulteration, sand mafia. Education mafia.
No strict Labour laws. Govt allows companies to exploit employees. It just doesnt want to be disturbed.
Bank scams, fraud - people pay price for banks fault and govt doesn't care.
Medical mafia, private hospitals looting, inflating prices of medicines, procedures, incompetent medical staff compared to developed nations. Oxygen shortage.
Its like 10 members in a family and 2 people are earning and feeding entire family . Leader is decided by those 8 member who aren't contributing.
Numerous issues. That's why every chance one gets they want to get out of this hell.
You can imagine the stress :)
I do appreciate your empathy towards extremely underprivileged people but imagine these people whose survival is dependent on someone else's tax don't hesitate to produce 10 children. Compared to an educated earning tax paying couple plan for ages to start a family thinking will they be able to give a good life to that child.
About Healthcare they get full waiver in private hospitals as well whereas a cash patient has to pay in millions.
But the govt is using this as an excuse. In the name of poor people they are looting the tax money.
We people pay normal GST + additional income tax. So close to 50% tax and nothing in return. I would rather pay some tax elsewhere and use service like Healthcare, free quality education, social security than waste it here.
Not looking to debate on this. You have your opinion and I have mine. I just shared my reasons why not choosing to be here.
Thanks and wish you the best.
For me (I’m planning to move to EU), I’ve been stalling this move for more than 2 years now - I love travelling and experiencing cultures significantly different from my own (both in and out of the office) - which is why I’ve decided to leave behind an Amazon grant worth $100k (vests in 3 years).
Life is too precious to chase money in the initial days of your career IMO. After a certain threshold, it’s all the same to me.
If not for other personal priorities in my life, India is an awesome bet for growing in the technology space - look at the pace at which we are creating unicorns :)
I hope it will continue in the coming years.
Top paid engineers get paid REALLY well in India - if you consider the cost of living in our country. Always consider CoL before looking at TC.

I understand your love for exploring and I can very much relate to it. Experiencing different cultures, foods, etc is very fulfilling.
Hope you get what you want.
You don’t have to take my word for it . Just go back 4-5 years . Atlassian, Rubrik, Cohesity , Twilio , Microsoft none of them were hiring in same numbers as they are . Swiggy , Razorpay etc were not unicorns then . There was no PhonePe , Rippling , Coinbase, Imply , Confluent .
Stay positive and keep distance from those who spread negativity . Scene in India is better than it ever was . No I am not trying to dissuade you from moving abroad , the reasons to do so are valid and different for different people.
Lastly speak to someone 1:1 who has actually worked and lived abroad and in India . Arm chair experts can only generalise and paint a cliched picture .
Are you talking about absolute numbers or relative percentage? Either way, unless you have official data, it is dangerous to suggest this from just personal experience.
> none of them were hiring in same numbers as they are
Again, it is dangerous to suggest from personal experience. For all you know, the total number of engineers also increased proportionally. I do agree with this to some extent though. There is increased emphasis on job creation and MNCs no longer see Indian devs as maintenance workers.
> Stay positive and keep distance from those who spread negativity
What negativity are you referring to here? Do you mean to question the claims, in other posts, on corruption, culture, laws, discrimination and politics? Would love it if you could elaborate more on this.
> Lastly speak to someone 1:1 who has actually worked and lived abroad and in India
I don't see the opinion of one being better than the diverse opinion that is available on blind. If you're just restricting yourself to be advised by a single person, you're not open to a more nuanced argument.
Perhaps! But there are deeper reasons for that, IMO. I am not going to go into detail (because I am somewhat ignorant myself) but this "social honour/stigma" is not arbitrary.
That was the primary motivating factor why I started looking for jobs outside and got an offer in London, fortunately. A lot of my friends feel so too btw.
