I'm interviewing for a job in Huawei. Don't want to disclose the location, but let's say it is US (but not Bay area) for the sake of this conversation. Individual contributor, relatively hot field, 20 YoE. This is for their 2012 Lab research arm. They mentioned grade 19. How does it compare to other companies? Levels.fyi don't seem to have much info on them. What ToC can I expect? P.S. I know what the work life balance and the political issues around Huawei.
The problem is you wouldn't learn how much they will offer you until the offer stage. So just wait until you get the offer
I feel that there is quite a bit of a range there and I'm trying to figure out how to get close to the upper bound.
It's pretty hard without leveraging your existing salary or a new offer. Unless you live in California they're gonna mandate you to provide your salary
ask for 100k sign on bonus because Huawei doesn't have RSU.
Ask if they will cover your legal costs
That have sth. called TUP. Which are equivalent to RSU. They are time based units. You are eligible after working for at least 12 months and they beat over couple of years. 5 if I’m not mistaken. I just accepted an offer also at level 19 but in Europe. Would be interesting to know what are differences. I’m in Finance though.
Cam you share the compensation info? I will too, once I have some numbers.
Also, may I ask what is your YoE? Just trying to see if level 19 is reasonable for me (20 years).
However if you are Chinese national you can get RSUs. Which entitle you to dividend.
What was your offer, I have an offer from them to move to the UK on grade 19, and I am not sure what is a good offer there. My offer is a 100k GBP + 25% performance based bonus and 20k signing bonus. I am moving from another part of the world, so have very little knowledge of the UK market.
It’s definitely prison worthy.
Haha. I know what kind of reputation Huawei has in US in general and on Blind in particular. However, I have quite a few friends working for them in EU and they are quite happy.
Eu has better labor laws than us, might be a different experience there. Why go work there while knowing all the political drama going on? I heard they have a super hard time recruiting in the us.
