After IPO, will Uber be not just “tier 1,” but the same tier as Facebook, Netflix, and google specifically, in terms of TC and brand value?

For reference, facebook’s E4 target annual RSU refresher is 70k over 4 years, while Uber’s L4 target is 55k over 3 years.

TC 177k due to depreciation 😔 / 1.3 YOE

No way - the stock will get slaughtered. Try not making a loss for a full year. Cant wait for mass exodus after ipo and 6 month holding period

Uber juicing like crazy pre ipo. Myself + tons of people I know have been getting major promos (e.g. 50% off your next ten rides) for months. That's not sustainable. And without those promos the "massive growth" would be much slower.

I also wouldn't want to be a low level employee (e.g. Engineer) at uber while they try to become profitable. Your life as an employee will only get worse as they squeeze for profitability. Food will continue to suck, 401k match will continue to be non existent, hell they may even start doing lay offs if wall st pressures them hard enough. Uber is gonna have to pinch super hard to become profitable.

FNG all have really great free food and all pay more than Uber today. I don't see Uber being competitive with them from an employee quality of life / tc perspective

True food is not as good as fb/li/dbx. Better than Uber though and still pretty decent

@Mxd Uber pay grows exponentially based on level. The only complaints of below-FANG pay is going to come from the average L3 and L4 offer.

My L5a offer was over 400k a year in TC. And that’s with a very conservative estimate of the paper money component.

Yes, with some risk, but the best bet right now. Many folks here came from g/f with good track records. A lot of VP/directors are straight from g/f VP/directors.

Uber, without doubt have good engineering teams. But the company needs to navigate public markets and that is much harder than private markets. Another thing to note is Uber no longer has super voting shares, so there is no one who can potentially say FU Wall Street, we will do as we want. I think we need to give Uber some time before coming to a conclusion.

It’s a risk and reward play .... most comps given out as based on 60 bil valuation . If it valued at 80-100 billions it’s going to be celebrations if it gets valued at 60 it’s still market rate comps like FNG

    • But what if it’s significantly lower? What if true value of Uber is only 15BN?

Possible , we will wait to see . Arm chair quarter backing is not going anywhere .. people believe it , have significant parts of our comps vested in it. If it wins , great if not we have a great stories and experience of building world class firm. Either ways the comps we are offered have significantly baked in the risk .
