I worked as QA, DBA and like eight months back I badly wanted to move to development prepared little bit and last month moved to development within my company for a new project. But being new developer I want to finish my tasks on time and busy with my toddler after daycare and also chores. HAve done like May be 20-30 Leetcode easy, mediums but keep losing motivation and didnt even touch the LC for weeks now. As am a new developer myself I couldn’t really code even LC medium after hours and even after looking solutions. My i140 is approved and I really want to switch bigger in 6 months from now. Any advice and motivation is appreciated.

You would likely triple atleast your salary at Faang, in 4 years you're earning what you make in a year every 2-3 months... That's what motivated me, the life that income level would mean for my immediate family and extended family

And it's true, and it's also so much more... It's stability (even in a rough market) it's prestige, it's working on a product that literally everyone uses, it's the benefits, it's the name on the resume it's pretty fun...

But it's not the end all be all... There's tons of great jobs out there and while preparing for Faang you're also preparing for those

At a certain point LC will become fun (at least medium ones). Just think of it as an adventure to get better problem solving. In a yr you wont mind the discomfort youre feeling now cause you will have forgotten it when you get an offer. Also you just need tk get to the point where you know the basica of LC. I did Amazon and Meta and Google and all of them asked fairly reasonable questions. No LC hard

  • Have you ever taken a data structures/algo course? If not, go through one on Coursera or similar site. Mediums should feel easier afterwards.
