I F*ing hate my job. I m a consultant at KPMG and all we do is create powerpoints the whole day! It’s such a waste of time that I can’t believe companies pay these people for this sh*t. I can literally feel my brain cells dying. WLB is terrible too, imagine doing designing powerpoints from 8 am to 8 pm. I’m 23 and an Ivy League grad. I really regret not studying comp sci. I feel lost and stuck. Seeing the TCs on Blind is not helping either. I have another job offer from a top company (MBB) and am quitting in a few months, but it s still in the consulting field. Everyone tells me to get an MBA, but I’m not sure if I really like working at corporations as someone on the business side of things. TC: 70k YoE: 1
That’s just work honestly.
Being an analyst can imagine this may be the case. However, work does get exciting in consulting later on .. you may want to spend some more time
So no big deal then. Learn how to write code by spending a few $100 on books and courses. Then switch jobs and industries if you like. You are early career so this consulting phase will let you see a bunch of business close up to help you in future jobs.
I feel you. I work for KPMG too and hate it. Thankfully for me I got placed on the tech side. They told me I would be doing I would be doing product but they never placed me on it. Instead they placed me on data entry for 6 months.. Also they are underpaying you. I started at KPMG at 77k and with the mid-year bump, I'm getting paid 80k.
Which city/area are you in? I m on the west coast as an associate
I'm on the east coast in an HCOL area as an associate
Sounds like you're having the same quarter life crisis everyone with <=1 YoE has. I don't think you ever get over it, you just accept that it's work and this is your life now.
Ivy League grad == rich parents. Why do you even care about TC?
That's not necessarily true. Also it sucks when you're grown but still relying on parents for money.
That is totally not true lol
Start the leetcode grind and get out
I felt the same and I’m out. Double the comp and wfh environment
You should see the rate card for your level, u’ll know how much money get minted bcz of u. How much of that gets to you - barely even 🥜. I was at big 4 too. They severely underpay. Moreover, traveling time is ur personal time.. how? I can go on and on. Get out as soon as you can.
They charge the client $200 per hour of work i do, and pay me $20… It’s not hard to see why the retention rate is so low for these companies.
I hear you. I have more stress at my current role but to this day I dont regret leaving kpmg. You have better things coming on your way…
