I am on PIP.. Should I take the generous severance?

I am on PIP officially for 30 days. I have just burnt out and feel mentally unstable. Need a break and want to just relax to recover.. My severance package is 3.5 months pay (base) + Medical insurance coverage till end of 2020. I am thinking to just take the severance to relax and get back on feet. I wont be rehirable at FB for 5 years. Looking for some thoughts.

Did you 2 meet almost rating? There must be some process on how survive the Pip?

What about your stocks

Facebook lgtmshipit Jun 9, 2020

Try to get out of pip?

Facebook doers OP Jun 9, 2020

Any benefits of grinding extra hard while burnout? One thing I can think of is get out of pip and then take an unpaid leave for 2-3 months to recover and get back to work..

You can keep your pay/stocks. You might regret throwing away what you've got when job hunting (where you might get even more burned out). Your suggestion is pretty good, don't do something you'll regret later.

Take the severance and recuperate man. Being on PIP has got to be tough and no guarantee you can coast once you're back to normal.

Thanks .. thinking the same..

Doesn’t seem like staying long term is healthy for you. How tough is it to overcome PIP and switch to a better team? I say take the severance though

Take the severance. After some time off, reflect on where you could improve and make sure not to repeat the same mistakes in your next gig. For me, I realized that wlb is the most important!

Microsoft Chym06 Jun 9, 2020

Do you have wlb issues as well?

Facebook sf50-g2 Jun 9, 2020

I did, but not anymore. I moved to G.

Is the severance really generous? What's the usual severance like say in Amazon?

Amazon ashga Jun 9, 2020

Take severance and take a few months to relax

Facebook jackyy Jun 9, 2020

Finding a new job is not as stressful as working at FB. Take severance and find a new job. Obviously you won't be ready for working at FB for next five years. So don't think much about it.
