I’m at Microsoft and I used to be at Uber. I’m really sick of how boring Microsoft is and want to leave like yesterday. Onsite scheduling is lining up for a couple months from now. I would like to go to Google but it’s quite a commute and who knows if I’ll get in even after studying. Facebook as well and anyway they have a hold on hiring in Menlo Park at the moment. Robinhood, WeWork, or Airbnb might be cool unicorns with IPOs coming up so I’m going to be talking to them. Stellar and 0x might be fun and profitable crypto startups so hey, why not. PlayStation and Waymo are near me and are kind of respected, right? LinkedIn and GitHub would allow me to stay at Microsoft but let me leave my stupid organization. Basically, I don’t know where to go and of course it depends on my interview prep. It’s feeling hard to motivate for studying. I’m 30 easy problems into Leetcode after 2 weeks and trying to switch to mediums now, plus planning on doing Grokking the System Interview. No company is exciting to me right now!! I’m feeling a little burned out on tech at the moment honestly. Will this pass??? Do I need to just switch companies ASAP and just go somewhere different and worry about the *right* company later in 6 months or so?? Please advise. 4YOE 220TC

Take a long vacation
Sadly, I already did. Coming back was worse 😣
With just 4yoe, ur showing the frustration of 20yoe. Take it easy. I think u need to develop a hobby which keeps h engaged outside work. Learn something new. Like guitar, kick boxing, etccc. Or sign up for full marathon and practice for it.i bet u will notice the diff
I think you’re right! But I also really do have to leave Microsoft before I fade away.
The pain I feel for ma-nerd-peeps.
Go back to school
I’d love to but I have to pay the bills.
Grass is always greener on the other side.
Stellar's chain is a ghost town. 0x and Harmony are legit. Try to figure out the pace and depth of the work before joining your next org and you should be fine, imo. Preferably somewhere where you'd be working closer with the Product and Design team. That way you'd be able to find meaning in your work too and that may help too. Good luck with the interviews!
Why would you leave Uber for Microsoft? Why did you leave Uber at all?
I guess it’s because the culture was pretty toxic couple of years back under old ceo. Quite a few friends left Uber back then as well.
Exactly.
You sound like a bored teenager. Frustration will be a part of your daily job no matter what company you’re are working for . If you can’t handle it you picked wrong major.
Believe me, I know how lucky we are in this industry. My complaints are quintessential first world problems and it means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Luckily, my small problem is fixable and I’m curious to hear what others think, especially if they’ve gone through similar.
You have an excellent attitude. Gl

Just out of curiosity, what's the process for moving to LinkedIn or Github? Same as an external candidate?
Exactly. Had to get referrals, do all the same screens, and hope I get to onsite.
