I don't understand how h1b database salaries vary to a huge extent from what people share on blind?

I understand that people bump it up here but the overall standard seems really high.

Which facts should one believe?

    You don’t need to report an actual salary to the H1B database. You just need to report a salary that is above the legal requirement.

    ps I know for sure those reported Netflix salaries are way below the real salaries.

      Partial knowledge on my end. So I wouldn't claim much on analytical end. However, the companies bought by SAP seem to have a future vision. I agree the shithole scenario in SF, but they're bouncing back. Talk about Ariba, there are quite a few products they're working on which are in the pipeline and are gaining customers.

      I think success factors is doing pretty good . Again the main core HANA DB is a big flop ..S4 HANA is a failure..they are like Oracle and they will survive with their core ECC product since almost all the Fortune 500 companies still uses it ..they missed the cloud long back .. millennials use the trendy cloud based tools like Salesforce, workday,service now, anaplan, Tableau , aWS , Jupyter , etc ..SAP is a legacy system ..only an idiot CIO who doesn’t have any clue about open source tools will buy the Hana DB by paying millions ..also the centralized one system is gone ..even here I see workday , service now , sales force , Tableau is used in conjunction with SAP ECC ..actually business users like workday and salesforce then SAP crappy GUI ..sap is dead and missed the cloud ..

  • biggest factor is because h1b data only contains base. if your TC is 500 at fb, you'll probably get only 210 base or so and the rest is Bonus and a ton of stock.

    Also my hypothesis is that most h1b filings are skewed towards more junior people. Most senior people already have an EAD or GC by the time they earn north of TC400. Unlike SAP most companies file GC in the first few months of your employment.

      The rules changed last year. SAP now applies for GC in the first few months.

    The data only include salaries but not TC. Also, it is biased because majority of H1b are new grads. If you work for companies with high comp, it’s likely that you get your green card before the second job.
