I just received 2 offers. One in my current field, one in a new field. The new field opportunity came in $20k lower. I want to counter but have never done it before. Any advice?

Example:
You: I really want to work here but I have another great offer. I am targeting 120k as my base for this role
Them: We can’t do that
You: I understand. I’m not sure if I can go lower than $117,450. Is that something we could do?
The obvious thing is to use the other offer as leverage.
Say "I'm interested in working here but I have another offer from company X for $Y. Are you able to make a more competitive offer?"
