I hate the FB “active”, “1m ago” status...
Because of this functionality, my girlfriend and I have been having arguments recently... If I just open the FB app, or messenger app - my status shows as ether “active” or “1m ago active”... and my girlfriend constantly sees this and then asks me why I didn’t message her if I was “active”... Simply opening the app doesn’t mean I don’t have anything to do and I am ready to chat. It could be as simple as checking a notification and going back to work... but this stupid “1m ago” or “5m ago” or however long effing “m ago” status is being interpreted in a different way and causing relationship issues. I wonder why FB wanted to bring this silly feature... :/ Anyone else has this issue?
Tell her you want to use signal for privacy reasons or some BS.
Delete the app. Dump your girlfriend. Take a one way trip to Australia.

Yes! I notice that my girlfriend is angry at me sometimes because of this. She hints it but she knows that it is silly to argue about it.

Uninstall the app and watch your focus and happiness increase over the following weeks. I did this with no regrets

Not a troll.. but I can see this going beyond a couple’s relationship. Family, friends, co-workers, some group, business pArtners... Imagine you send messages to one of these folks 10h ago, no reply but you see them as “active” 1m ago... how would you feel?
Same issue as every messaging app in market now. They all tell you if they’ve seen the message. Not defending messenger cause I don’t like it, I just think that your girlfriend is petty

I don’t know what the purpose of this feature is. There should be some privacy settings associated with it I feel.
As in if the feature is disabled by you, you will also not be permitted to see anyone’s last seen time just to ensure fairness and consistency.
Facebook doesn't give a flying fuck about privacy. Or actually, understands its core business as destroying your privacy.
Blaming fb for this feature is rather absurd. Your gf clearly has issues. Ask her to stop being silly.
And you are a PM? :/ Aren’t PMs supposed to consider this kind of issues when designing products/features, too?
This is a relationship issue. Not a PM issue.
