I led a very simple life - saw my parents struggle for money, studied, made close friends. Stayed away from all kinds of addictions and everything I felt I should - alcohol, smoke, weed, casual sex, spending money aimlessly. I had a partner with whom I spent most of my time with and my partner was just as simple a person as I was (indeed slightly more than me), so we studied together, helped out each other, travelled together, volunteered together, didn't run the race race - it was a small happy world. After we broke up, I continued to do all these things and joined the gym. I still come home and do my own things, occasionally go to a night club if my friends make plans, meet for dinner, plan a travel, try new things (like cooking, drummimg) and make new friends. Today someone told me I am like a baby who hasn't done any of the adult things. Have I missed out on life?
I mean drugs are fun and all but if they are not interesting to you then no reason to change that now. Seems like you got your shit together pretty well.
I don't see a reason to do it. They are not good for health (so I believe), they are addictive, and to me it seems like escapism. So I was never convinced why I should try. Spoiling my health was not a convincing reason for me to improve socializing. And I was always decently social.
I'm certainly not going to say that you should do drugs, that's a decision for you to make. That said, psychoactive drugs are helpful for expanding your mind. They allow you to understand how other people with different brain chemistries perceive the world and how it differs from your own perspective. They can also show you a different (often positive, though not always) side of yourself that you have never seen before. By no means does trying a drug a few times spoil your health. The fact that you have lived your whole life without needing to try them indicates to me that you are almost certainly not prone to addiction. You have a healthy natural state, and that's a good thing! That doesn't make drugs or people who do them bad.
That might say more about them than you. Ignore it and share your TC
Seems like youâre a cool dude. The idiot that called you a baby is a child.
Thank you. I would like to believe he was more naive than an idiot :)
As long as youâre happy OP, thatâs all that matters.
Yes, I am content :)
We shouldnât measure our own happiness in life by other peopleâs standards. You do you.
I wish more people lived and valued the kind of life you had. Donât listen to the jackass who compared you to a baby.
Thanks. It gets annoying sometimes to provide reasons as to why I don't do any of the "cool" things. It's just not me, I was raised responsibly and ethically and I never fell for the peer pressure to do hip things. I was curious to hear from others if I missed out on life. So thanks for your words :)
That's my story! Although haven't found any partner yet and I'm already 25. :(
I miss having a companion in life, someone I am super comfortable with, and there is acceptance. But I don't run into those kind of people often. So I continue to do my things. I hope you find your love soon :)
You donât live a âhappyâ life :) happiness is temporary and almost impossible to achieve. You have lived a âjoyfulâ life! And that is meaningful. Joy is momentary and if you embrace it (like how you have and are) they those âmomentsâ fill your joyful life, brother! Keep at it :) you are an inspiration.
Oh, dude(tte). Git laid
Thanks a lot, @New. Appreciate your words :)
If you are happy with your life nothing else matters !! People say a lot of things but at the end of the day its your life and your happiness triumphs over anything else.
True. It just made me wonder if I should try the things I didn't or continue to be who I am. The former would be a lot of effort though, the latter is easy :)

Do you feel like youâve missed out?
No, I was always a responsible person. But I feel like I don't fit in sometimes.
