Literally had no idea there was even a tip scam happening. For $10/month for the Dash pass I found it is completely worth it. The pass is incredibly convenient for my family because I order more than three times a month, which covers the entire Dash pass cost in terms if delivery fee. So ... get off your high horses - if you are also “boycotting” all the other unethical companies such as Uber, FB/instagram, Snap, Apple etc... well... that sucks to be you, enjoy living under your rock. To be clear, I tip in app. not cash. TC: 400k
Wowwwww over here talking about they need Tc $400k, $100k is peanuts then turns around and doesn’t tip ppl who barely make $14/hr. I grew up with parents who made minimum wage, and middle class families who tipped them was their only savings. 20% min Or I don’t eat out...I always tip delivery in cash
FWIW I think it’s great that you tip in cash. I literally never have cash though because I try my hardest to use a credit card for everything. I love the points and love the liability shifting to my CC for protection. I grew up middle class too so I get the struggle which is why I always tip.
Minimum wage in California is $15/h. Not like mid west $2/h. So i do think tipping culture should be different in Cali vs other states
Just go and get a bit of cash for tipping, homeless people and so on, so you have something on hand when you need it. It's possible to plan your life.
If you tip cash then it's fine. Just go to the bank and withdraw a ton of cash if you don't always have cash on you.
Guess I’ll go to the bank and withdraw $100 in 1s for tipping.... ;)
You pay for dash pass, so we should get off our high horses? A logical and compelling argument.
So you don't have any issue that your tips are going to DoorDash's bottom line rather than to the person actually doing the work? Either don't tip at all and let DoorDash pay the whole delivery cost, or tip in cash and have the money go directly to the worker. What you do is next level stupid where you brag about how you knowingly give a deceitful company more money for no reason.
Go cry about it somewhere else.
The tips always went to the drivers. You guys forget that there are folks who don’t tip. In DoorDash’s old model, they took care of all of those drivers. In other food apps, the drivers just got screwed.
So in the old model it was tip pooling that went to every driver or what exactly?
@AMZNBucks the old model had a much better guarantee pay per delivery. In this new mode drivers will average less income per delivery. You decide which one is better, but that’s what ajlX64 is saying.
My father in law is a typical penny pinching Asian. I noticed hed only tip 8 to 10% over and over. Finally, I took the bill after he tipped in front of about 8 and added more. That ended that behavior.
Tips always go to the dasher. Their base pay goes up or down based on how much the tip is. Dashers preferred this model but media doesn’t know what the fuck they’re talking about neither do 99% of people on Blind

Agreed - ironically many “Dashers” will now get less money because of their new model. Second - I don’t tip on door dash/Uber eats/etc. I’m paying for the delivery service therefor there’s nothing to tip. When I go into a restaurant I pay for the food, so if the service is exceptional I tip. My “service fee” and “delivery fee” are my tip.
I’ve always tipped assuming it goes directly to the dashers pockets... I feel guilty otherwise but I see your viewpoint. I imagine my “tip” for the Dasher is equivalent to my “tip” for the wait team at restaurants.
Cheap people are the worst.
