First of all, I hate doing my taxes. Second of all I hate doing taxes, knowing I am gonna owe A LOT. I have been using Turbo Tax for the longest time. But last year I got a mail from IRS for missing some details - which apparently I should not trust their auto-import feature and I should do my due diligence before filing. I had to owe quite a bit on interest. My tax situation is also getting very convoluted. I want a referral to a good CPA in the Bay Area please. I don’t know how to tell if someone is good. * they all want my business * they can get me some insane deductions - but what if I get audited? How can you tell if someone is good? I don’t want to trust reviews on Yelp as not everyone’s tax situation is the same. I want a CPA who can also guide me with my expenses each year to maximize savings. H&R Block. They do a good job with convoluted taxes and get you mega deductions. And you can pay extra to have them represent you at an audit. They’re no frills but it works fine for taxes.
Do they have human CPAs active involvement, similar to what you’d get with a pro CPA, making tax suggestions, etc or they just review your filling?
They have humans who review, make recs, help you get maximum deductions, and help you prep for next year. Mine would split it into two appointments so I could homework and bring back documentation to get more on my return.
Call the Enrolled Agent in the area.
