I negotiate hard and get a high offer while being upleveled, will that set me up for higher expectations in future
Currently level 62 at Microsoft. Got some FNG (+airbnb/uber/etc) offers that uplevelled me to L5/E5 equivalents.
i've been successful at negotiating so far, so I'm going to end on the high end of l5 band looks like
*Will this set me up for higher expectations than if I didn't negotiate as much (still at L5 level though)?*
Put another way, will my manager at whatever FNG I end up at know my TC (say, 450k) than if I negotiated to a say 350k TC, and use that information different during reviews/PSC? Or are all L5 s evaluated the same regardless of TC?
TC: 240k, 5YOE looks like I'm on track to double at current rate of negotiation
As a sidenote: of course if I'm already high TC, then I'll have less growth in TC at EOY. I'm not optimizing for that. I'm just optimizing for total TC for the same level of performance over, say 4 years

But yeah, you are expected to deliver according to your level. May not be a bad thing.
