Now that the acquisition happened today, just want to gauge Blind on if it's a good bet to hop into the Hybrid Cloud space with IBM right now. I'm interviewing for a role, not development, just to check it out and see what's up, and I think it could be great but I hear mixed things about IBM, but maybe it's different if it's basically Red Hat I'd be working for? Do you think hybrid cloud can turn IBM around? Role is in Research Triangle Park. (For courtesy, my TC 104k non dev, 4 yrs experience)
The work is interesting and the vision is logical. Probably one of the best teams within IBM.
Wonderful to know! Thanks for da insight.
I’m going to predict that IBM will let RH operate for a few years before TOB.
Red Hat is still "independent" such that we're effectively an autonomous unit under the IBM umbrella (for now anyways, the future is anyone's guess). Red Hat is still hiring and if you're trying to get a job at Red Hat then you should apply at https://www.redhat.com/en/jobs because as it stands right now there won't be "direct cross pollination". Both IBM's CEO and Red Hat's CEO (who is staying on and reporting directly to IBM's CEO) have stated publicly and internally that it's a "work together" and not "merge" strategy for the organizations.
I'm currently in process with redhat as well. And am curious.
Good luck! Hopefully no hiring freeze as they got aquired today.
