He lost big time on IBM though. I think he was all in on IBM circa 2012 when IBMs revenue was all time high. Thereafter, IBM had 20 plus quarters of declining revenue.
He seems to be losing his game. Investing in ibm was mistake to begin with and now he is investing in apple when they are at their peak
Remember though that the relatively generous dividends each year would have erased most if not all of his loses buying high and selling lower.
Time will tell. As of today, just in the last month, he probably raked in 2.5 billions paper profit on his 200 million shares. I think he will collect some dividends next week to the tune of 73 cents per share. Thats a good chunk. With Apple's announced 100 billion buy back, share price will be supported for quite some time. As of today AAPL has 285 billion in cash and its valuation is 925 billion. I think service revenue will keep on growing and mainly it did better in mainland China as related to iphone sales. I think his investment is safe for now.

Define tier 4, maybe in benefits, comp (100% agree there), and a average talent ... but there groups at IBM that go all the way up to tier 1. Those groups may all lose their talent if Red Hat fails but hey ... IBM still has some good people sticking around from the pension generation. For example, research and blockchain has good people and I heard through the grape vine that the Cloud Garage is their premier services offering with a lot of distinguished engineers (yah it maybe political title, but they are “tier 1”) Remember a tier experience depends on the group and what you hope to get out of it. There is still a lot of learning and experience one can gain from working at IBM in the short term throwing money out the window but it doesn’t bring happiness just makes life a little easier. There culture has to change if they hope to retain those people in the long term
