Difference in working for Amazon and Amazon subsidiary

If I got a job for an Amazon subsidiary like a9 , am I technically the same as a regular Amazon employee? Is a subsidiary considered completely different in terms of pay, benefits, and internal mobility to the parent company?

From what I know, each subsidiary is pretty distinct. Many are only integrated in HR systems and such. Otherwise, the culture, etc. is very much from the sub and not from the Amazon parent. I think transferring into regular Amazon isn't hard, but I haven't seen it much. Probably more a factor of location though (subs not in Seattle so less opportunity for transfer without moving)

It really depends on the sub. Some are not integrated but HR and payroll are one of the first parts to integrate. The level of autonomy I'd drastic though. Zappos retains great autonomy while some subs are all but absorbed into the culture and systems and policies.
